The news is talking about "Winter Preparedness". This seems pretty silly when we have another 70 degree day on the horizon. After the Summer of Mosquitoes, I was really praying for a brutally cold winter - but alas. So far, no dice. It is also hard to think that winter hasn't officially started yet. What isn't hard to believe is that the solstice is right around the corner and the days will start getting longer again, soon. Relief.

I rocked at Mom-ing yesterday. The evening shift isn't easy - I'm usually dealing with cranky post-nap toddlers waiting for dinner while I frantically try to cook and soothe. Yesterday was not that day! I picked up cheerful and awake kids from the babysitter. We went directly to the park and played until dark. The boys didn't scream and yell when it was time to leave, rather the opposite. I told them to say Bye Bye to the park and they both said their goodbyes with little waves and we held hands as we walked calmly back to my car. Brenner was really interested in helping me cook dinner and then was REALLY interested in eating it. Both boys had a great dinner and were ecstatic when Nicole got home. Easy-peasy. It felt awesome.

We are going to go get our Christmas tree tonight together when Nicole comes home. Our goal is to at least get the lights on tonight after we put the boys down. We are still slowly and steadily decking the halls. There are SO many fun Christmas things to do around this town that we are going to be very busy! Downtown Christmas celebration: Dickens of A Christmas, Christmas Parades, Tree Lightings, and shopping on the market. I foresee the boys up past bedtime pretty regularly!

Last night, the sky flared pink. So brightly I wondered if something happened. But the winter sunset finally broke through the spotty clouds and flooded the sky with magenta. The kids were playing and I heard Brooks shout "Whoa!" and walk to the front door to see what was happening. That's right, kid - Whoa.
