How lucky am I to live here?
We took the boys on their first hike yesterday. And by ‘hike’, I mean a short walk through the woods on a pretty well maintained service road at one of my favorite old college-era hikes.

Our kids had a super-busy weekend, I tell you!

We started off in mei-tais because Brooks passed out on the way there. In fact, Brooks slept through the first half of his first hike and only woke when we turned back toward the car. Brenner was content in the mei-tai until the turn around point, and then he wanted to walk back.

It was so sweet to watch them both toddle through the woods, stopping to stare at long grass, pick at shoots, deliberate over rocks, look up and see the tree canopy. There were a LOT of smiles and joy.

I swear that Brooks was there, too - he just spent a LOT ot time on my back in a met-tai!

And then there was a lot of afternoon crankiness because that’s what happens when toddlers are totally out of their routine. But in the end, worth it! I look forward to hiking LOTS with them in the future.

I am also trying to convince Nic to buy a pop-up trailer for camping. She wants a small fishing boat instead. Sigh.
