Oh my goodness. The first day back to work after a week of vacation is painful. 5:00 AM seemed like such a joke when my alarm went off! Oh, to be a lady of leisure! I am quasi looking forward to going back to the daily grind and partly dreading the reentry shock.

It's also been quite an LJ hiatus for me, too. In fact, I don't think I opened the laptop at all except to plan the menu for this week and grab some recipes.  I do keep in touch with some of you via Instagram (which I totally blew up this week!), so I was kicking in the Out There somewhere.

Overall: It was a glorious week in The Ark. Nana was here and loves watching the babies so Nicole and I got some projects done:

Art for the wall and bathroom remake: )

It was sunny, warm and gorgeous for a vacation week  I think the beach last year was the last vacation week Nicole and I had where we felt like we got away.  I honestly felt that I was existing in a separate universe from my own - a parallel life where I did only what I wanted to do. Sigh to going back to work!

We also took the boys to the zoo in Asheboro, NC. The boys fed giraffes!  I thought we were going to go through the line, the zookeepers would hand the adults the browse and we would feed the giant (gentle) creature.  Not so!  Brenner had a hold of his leaf so hard and he didn't want to let it go.  The giraffe totally took that long black tongue of his and wrapped it around Brenner's leaf and gently extricated it from his tiny hand.  The look of shock was priceless.  And Brooks?  He's such an animal lover - he couldn't stop staring.  We went through the line twice!  Here are a few of my favorite shots:

And then, of course, no Memorial Day is complete without a trip to Festival in the Park and some water fun:

More Vacation: )

Now to try to put my game face on and get back to work.  I missed you all! Hope everyone is well.  I will be going back to try to catch up on your lives here as I get my own back under control and fall back into routine.  I am seriously going to miss Nana's support and help around the house, I know the boys and Nicole will, too.  But I also know that the boys thrive with their familiar routine... and that they will be happy/upset that we will not be together today as they go to Inga's.  Happy to see Inga, sad to not be with the Mamas.

They are getting so big.

Here is my last pic, promise.  The face I made when Brenner stole my sunglasses:
