I am forever reminded when I am around Hollins Women that we are a wild, energetic, amazing, talented, and achieving bunch. The sun rise over Tinker Mountain that Annie Dillard and Sally Mann saw, we shared. A whole host of amazing alums that all started their independent, forward-thinking, women-empowered ways in the bosom of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Thank you, Universe, for telling me to follow my heart to this little school of wonder and teaching me to be who I am today.
Nicole partied hard last night. It was SO much fun to take the boys by the festivities for an hour or so yesterday. Hugging all these women that I haven't seen in ages felt so good. I am in awe of all they have accomplished as mothers and in their careers. I don't think that ten years ago we could have imagined all that we/they have done.
I successfully bathed both boys last night and was reminded just how big they are getting. After toweling off Brooks, I told him to go to his room and he toddled his naked butt at high speed down the long hallway... paused at his door, looked back over his shoulder with that look that tells me "I know what you SAID to do... but...." let our a squeal and kept running! (Toward the 3-Legged Kitty - his favorite). I left Brenner wrapped in his towel sitting calmly on the bathmat to chase that naked stinker and redirect him. When I looked back, Brenner was still calmly sitting with a paci in his mouth. (Wait... where did he get that?)
I changed them, sat in the rocker with the story blanket and said, "Okay boys, story time!" And both of them toddled over to me and went to their usual sides and waited to be picked up. Oh, how much they understand these days!
Got up early to have coffee and a few minutes to myself before the whirlwind day begins. We have to be at the parade of classes at 10. And Lisa and Nic didn't get home until 1:30ish. And Nicole and I had some lovely times together which meant she didn't get to bed until later than that! (One good thing about having your spouse and house at reunion, huh?) I am totally responsible for getting the boys and I ready by 9:15 since I'm pretty sure both ladies will be fighting to open their eyes and stumble back to campus for another packed day of revelry!
