Sep. 27th, 2013 07:49 amPotty training is such a weird milestone. Like, all parents talk about it but hardly any not-parents want to hear about it. In fact, some other parents don’t really want to hear about it. Buuuut it is kind of a rite of passage, right? Yeah. It is. Having posted that brief disclaimer, I plan to talk about potty training for precisely one paragraph. Skip to the next one if you don’t feel like reading about it!
Brooks is potty trained, I think. He had a terrible, awful, mean diaper rash for the beach vacation (seriously, I called the doctor!) and then I had to get prescription cream for him when we got back from the beach and it wasn’t any better. (To the tune of 25$! After we’d bought every other cream on the market from Vaseline to Butt Paste, Bag Balm to Desitin…) Anyway, he got it in his head that diapers make boo-boos and while “cream makes it better”, he’d rather not have anything to do with a diaper at all anymore, thanks. So, he spent a lot of time diaperless. And was day trained. Now we’ve had two nights in a row where he’s started calling Mommy to take him to the potty in the middle of the night to go. He gets it! (Although yesterday when Nicole went in to take him to the potty at 6:00 AM, he was diaperless. She later found the diaper crammed under his stuffed animals, with poop in it. Ha!)
Okay, potty training talk over.
Happy Friday, all! Fall has really settled in here. My fingers are cold on the keyboard, my toes were chilly in the car on the way here. Life continues apace and I am not cool with all of this getting older (me or the kids!) business. I’m still hitting my running goals, but this week has been all whacked out due to Brooks’ sickness. Maybe today I will have time for a run! It’s unbelievable weather to run in. It makes me feel even more hard core for running in the 90 degree weather+humidity.
I’ve taken to leaving the kids video wake-ups on the mornings I have to be in to work early. I love technology.
