Apr. 29th, 2013 08:25 amWe had a very busy weekend. One thing I really really love is modeling a life of volunteer and service work for the kids. So, this weekend they volunteered at their second adoption event at the PetExpo! Well, volunteer work was more on the part of their mamas, but they were definitely there having fun. Nicole and I divided Saturday and Sunday at the PetExpo and we were there pretty much all weekend. The boys came out with me on Saturday morning as I went to relieve Nicole.
It was great! The kids got to see horses, 2-week old goats, some ducks and chickens, bunnies, mini-horses. And then all the rescues were there: Pug, German Shepherd, Greyhound, Wolf-Hybrids, Bird, Ferret. And the humane societies and mutt-rescues from all over. Plus tons of vendors and people to see. The animal rescue community is a small world, so we got to see tons of friends and cheer on adoptables, cheer for adoptions and network. I had a great time. We did get one of our fosters adopted this weekend, too – so YAY.
I fell in love with a Standard Poodle/Irish Setter mix. 12 weeks old. But daaaang, I do NOT have the energy at the moment for a puppy. But it totally reinforces my dream-dog of adopting a Standard Poodle mix before I die. The rescuer offered to trade me Iggy for her and I told him that if I made that deal, *I* would also be up for adoption... So funny, so true.
Saturday was pretty gorgeous, if chilly and Sunday was rain rain rain. So is this morning. I had a hard time motivating myself to put my feet on the floor and start moving. I made it. Monday. Only five work days until PTO, though!
I am so excited to get to spend Monday and Tuesday with the boys! I know one day I will be taking them to the Transportation Museum, I need to find something to do with them on the other day. I definitely want adventures together. Wednesday we head up to Maryland.
Did I mention that I won the extemporaneous speaking event for the regional Toastmasters competition? Nicole and I will be taking a mini-trip to Virginia Beach for me to compete again Friday night and then be back in Maryland by Saturday afternoon. Whirlwind vacation! I am prepared not to feel rested at all when we get back!
I have leftover pizza for lunch. I am really excited about it. I have this really nostalgic feeling that goes back to watching other kids have foil-wrapped triangles of pizza in their lunches and being jealous of their non-sandwich lunches... and then the rare occasion where *I* had pizza leftovers and the lunch time celebration that the foil-wrapped triangles prompted. I still get excited and do a happy dance for leftover pizza in foil at lunch!
