Nov. 15th, 2012 02:47 pmI saved a dog today! This is a huge accomplishment because I did it all by myself. Nicole is the dog person. I don’t really know what to do with dogs I find. I panic WAAAAY more when I find a dog than I cat. Cats, I can handle.
Not only was this a dog. He was a DOG. More like a horse, actually. Some sort of Mastiff mix, I think . He had to crumple himself up in my front seat because I have no room anywhere else for anyone to sit. Oh yes. He got in my front seat. He was friendly, huge and goofy.
I drove around and knocked on doors asking if anyone knew the dog (during my short lunch break today!) and no one recognized him.
I finally drove to the vet’s office on the corner just intending to have them scan him for a chip. A really, really, hot lesbian vet came out to my car to see him (after demonstrating complete relief that I wasn’t going to dump the dog, just wanted his chip info so I could take him home…) and she KNEW the dog!
“That’s Bear!” she said, “I know him! He was just in here for a bath. You can leave him here and I will call his parents.”
Success! I immediately loved that dog, gigantor though he was – so I knew I’d have to help him somehow. This was the easiest rescue ever. SO happy it worked out.
