dreamsrundeep: (summer feet)
This weekend was absolutely gorgeous. Two days that we never see in August, temperate and not humid. It was cool enough yesterday to open all of the windows and enjoy the breeze rippling gently through the house.

Saturday, one of my besties in the world for Ordained. She is a reverend! What an amazing beginning to the end of her graduate school journey of faith. And that started with getting fired. Much like my own little graduate school adventure. Seeing her has given me hope!

My acceptance letter came, so I have a program and a path to walk, which is exciting. I’m still a little leery of online education and degrees being valued as highly as ‘brick and mortar’ institutions, but I am also a believe in “the degree is what you make of it”. The irony is that the graduate program I am pretty sure I will be attending is out of a university in Boston that I had my heart set on for undergrad … and didn’t get in.

As I am technically a single mother of twins, does anyone know of any resources available to mothers returning to graduate school in terms of financial aid or other avenues to help me afford this amazing endeavor?

More Mundane weekend stuff: I love our neighborhood. I love that it is a place to have young families and be active in all ways. Nicole left work early and went fishing within walking distance and caught a 15 inch bass. She was chuffed. I took the kids to one of the THREE parks we have near us. Saturday we hit the other two – one in the morning after a long walk to the place where the bridges cross the river for the second time, the other after the ordination. The afternoon trip to the park also took us down to the river for wading, investigating and rock throwing (at the water, of course!).

Hope all of you are well! I will try to get some balance around here someday!
