dreamsrundeep: (summer feet)
There are big bumble bees crashing from flower to flower as I work on the front porch today. It is absolutely gorgeous.

I’ve spent so much time helping people get their resumes together that I am behind in my own work... again. Time to focus on what I need to get done, but the spring-like air isn’t making it very easy.

The boys had a successful first day of summer camp yesterday. The camp has a wide variety of toys and Brooks found a baby doll that he is absolutely in love with. The baby came home with us yesterday, even. He wanted to make sure she had dinner, a bath, and then bed with him. He fed her oatmeal from his portion this morning, she sipped first from his sippy cup. She also went to the park last night and Brooks said “Baby, Slide! Baby, Climb!” and showed her around the park. We need to get him his own baby doll!

I did get just a smidge touchy when a little girl (about 8) made a sneering comment about a boy playing with a baby doll. She said something like, “Is that a boy or a girl?” When I answered boy she said, “Well then, why does he have a BABY DOLL?” I calmly told her that good boys play with dolls and that dolls are excellent ways to teach others to take care of one another. She looked at me blankly and went on her way, perhaps not expecting an adult to actually answer a question like that. Nicole later said that if she is lucky, she will marry someone that played with dolls!
