Somewhere near the middle of teaching my last class of the day, we looked out the windows of the training room to see it snowing horizontally. Tiny little flakes coming so fast that you couldn’t see the mountains. Rain with the potential for some sleet was in the forecast, but this snow? No. And it kept snowing. Eventually it gave way to heavy, huge white flakes. Before we knew it, it was slushy and all over the place. It snowed for three-four hours. We got three to six inches. On April 4th!

The Bradford pears are already heavily in bloom and they are such weak trees that the last time we had snow after they bloomed (sometime in March about 7-8 years ago) there was absolute devastation. Trees split down the middle or trees that fell over entirely, unable to bear the weight of a heavy, wet Spring snow on the increased surface area the blooms created. Thankfully, my drive in wasn’t strewn with tree-limbs, so it looks like everyone survived this freak occurrence.

Tomorrow is my sleep-in day! It’s a glorious thing to look forward to. And it’s really the only thing that got me up out of bed at 5AM the last two days. I keep saying that once it is light enough at 6AM, I am going to start running in the mornings… but I cannot even imagine. I will make it. Many people work out in the mornings and do not die.

We have big plans to go to the Market and have lunch out together tomorrow as a family. I am super excited.
