Oct. 3rd, 2012 05:19 amYesterday was a day for knee-high boots, skirts and sweaters. Chilly, fall, drizzly. Until about 2:00. And then the rain stopped and the humidity kicked up, fog from above, steam from the ground. Sticky and thick. I cannot see the house across the street for the fog this morning. At all. And again I awoke at 4:30 to check work but realized that my mind needed to connect and journal more than it needed to Get All The Things Done. There is time. There is always time. I will find the time.
One thing I didn't mention that was a pretty big thing for our family: Raleigh got adopted. I didn't say goodbye because I was afraid I would cave. I let Nicole take her to meet her new family on Sunday alone. But last night we got an email from the family. Their little girl is showing signs of autism (at 3 years old) and they were hoping Raleigh would be just the buddy she needed to feel more connected to the world. Right now it looks like they were right! Raleigh follows the little girl around everywhere to make sure she isn't getting into trouble. The little has been sick and needed a breathing treatment yesterday - she usually fights tooth and nail, but Raleigh sat down next to her and they snuggled while she calmly took her treatment. They bought Raleigh a stuffed squirrel after we told them that she's a little obsessed with them. She is in the *perfect* home. No other animals. A little girl to snuggle and care for. I can't even be sad. When Nicole read me the emails from the new family, I got all misty and realized again - it is the nature of the game to love deeply and still be the stepping stone that helps find the Forever Home. But dude. Fostering dogs is *hard* and still not for The Ark. We have too much going on for a 3rd dog.
But cats? Always room! Noche (our three-legger) has been with us six months and he finally got an application in! Hopefully he will go home if the references check out and Nicole met and offered our home to another cat in recovery. Kanga walks on her two hind legs because a serious bone infection in her front legs makes it too painful to walk - and it's been like that long enough that she's learned to navigate the world on two legs. How can you resist a cat that hops? I hope she does come stay with us!
The amount of busy I have been is SO totally un-funny. So.
ETA: Why does the new style of update screen seem to disable built-in browser spell-check? Am I the only one having the issue?
