Sep. 13th, 2012 08:45 amI left work early yesterday, loaded up my phone with podcasts from A Way with Words and headed north on a three hour odyssey to Manassas to collect my Mother in Law.
There could not have been a more gorgeous September afternoon for a road trip. Following a ribbon of highway over wide, lazy rivers and through the gorges to emerge at the flatter lands where highways are lines with brilliant pink, orange and red poppies. Puffy playful clouds dotting the bluest skies I’ve seen since Texas.
I have one hell of a crick in my neck today, though. Man. Road trips are just not that easy anymore! It was only six hours in the car! And we have another six hours in the car on Saturday … with the beach as the final destination.
(Aside: I just got a text from Nicole. Nana got up with the boys this morning and Nicole didn’t even hear them. She’s still in bed and can hear the sounds of Nana feeding the boys breakfast downstairs. Aw! Yay for Nana times with the boys! She brought them so many new books – they are going to be over the moon!)
Yick. The coffee from the Corporate Café is YUCKY. But I persist in buying and drinking it. Why? I need a reminder: Life is too short for bad coffee.
