Here are a few things I believe to be true:

Kindness should always be the first response.
Kindness is something that needs to be given freely without the expectation that it will come back to you.
When someone shows you kindness, there is no time like the present to acknowledge it. Gratitude is the small lighthouse that keeps kindness coming your way.
Kindness has a way of finding you when you give it freely and unbegrudgingly. I believe that if you are unkind, selfish or self-serving, you heart closes off.

I live my life with the mindset that there is always enough to help others. Money is money. Time is time. I will but pass this way once…

That is how I aspire to live my life. Maybe it is the fact that I had no adult to count on as a kid, but I believe that in taking care of others, we take care of ourselves, too. My dad always gave money to the homeless on the corners. Every cent he had. And he always said, “Blair – you should always give when you can because you never know when you will be giving to an angel unawares.” And I believe that. Angels are around us every day. Do you give kindness or pass by?

From Drop Box

I took the boys out to enjoy our new fenced yard yesterday. It was *wonderful* to be able to sit and simply enjoy them rather than be so watchful that it was hard to relax. I knew they were contained and I knew they were having a blast. It was 8much* easier for mama to simply *be* in the moment.

Also, last night I let the dogs out and thought I heard a huge truck outside the house.  The fire department keeps cruising through to monitor all the downed power lines, so I thought it was another pass.  But this morning, I woke up and heard the sound again on my way out to work.  It hit me that the sound I was hearing was acutally the sound of countless generators running to keep my neighbors afloat.  Please, please, please let there be power for everyone today!  I'm still coming in early to find outage refugees at work showering in our wellness room - poor things. I would estimate that still at least 1/3 of the area is in the dark.
