The rain is relentless this morning. At least it isn't ice. It was so warm this weekend that we are saved from that! This has been the coldest winter in half a century in this valley. Our heat bill is astronomical and I've finally given up and started running indoors.
We had the boys third birthday party this weekend. It was wonderful. The Very Hungry Caterpillar is a fun theme! The little kids from the neighborhood all came and The Don's girls (and their little brother) came. We had a full house! After all my anxiety that no one would come, too.
If you are shopping for toys for a three year old, Imaginext was a hit. The Don got the boys a roaring dragon, a stompy troll and some little action figures. They haven't stopped playing with them!
We also took the kids to their first sporting event: a roller derby bout. Their Doña is a derby warrior and we had fun cheering on her team and watching them "race really fast". There were two injuries bad enough to stop the bout and as silence fell in the stadium, Brooks’ little voice carried through the whole place when he exclaimed, "She has a Boo-boo! Call Doctor Delaney!" (His pediatrician) He was seriously concerned. We had hotdogs at half time and they couldn't stop talking about their auntie all weekend and going to see another bout. We asked them what their favorite part of their weekend was and they said the Skate Race. Not their birthday party! Too funny.
